Scottish slate gift was born by me Ema Davies with a little help from my partner Grant (+my 2 children and 2 huskies) . We thought of the idea when looking for slate products to give as gifts to friends and family and we were disappointed in how most of the slate gifts were made outside the UK and then imported into this country, given that grant has around twenty years experience working with slate and I have a more crafty side it seemed a good idea to combine both of our qualities to create high quality slate gifts that can be used inside your house and outside. 
All our gifts are hand made by us in our workshop in the Scottish Borders, infact most of our orders are made on the day and dispatched within 2 working days, they are 100% handmade by us. We now produce many products using slate and are adding to our range all of the time. Slate is a fantastic material to work with as no two pieces are the same, but one thing each piece has in common are the slates we use are of a high quality, there are a huge range of slate available but we only use t1 and s1 quality slate for our gifts to give you our customer a quality end product. 
Our chopping blocks and serving boards are also very unique each piece of wood comes from trees which have fallen naturally around 15 miles from our workshop and home. I (Ema) lovingly sand down each thick chunk of wood till it shows its true quality. Each piece is very organic and they are all treated with natural oils and waxes as are our slate gifts.
We always over package our items and recycle anything to use as protection within the boxes to avoid any bumps and bruises. We have all our orders collected by courier and every item can be tracked to make sure your gifts arrive safely. We always try to have our orders out as swiftly as possible even at busy times.
