Hi, my name is Diana Hunter and I run a small hobby business making tiaras and jewellery. I have since branched out into a new hobby called wire wrapped jewellery. Wire wrapping dates back to the pharaohs in Egypt. I use semi precious stones, e.g. fluorite, amethyst, mother of pearl etc. then I wrapped them using 14ct gold fill or sterling silver wire, to make pendants. I can also use these wires to make bracelets, earrings and rings. 
What is Gold fill?
Gold fill is a manufacturing process whereby a gold 'sandwich' is created, gold on the outside and a base metal on the inside. The gold is permanently bonded under enormous pressure to the surface of the base metal in a milling process which results in a gold surface about 100 times thicker than conventional gold plating. The material produced is about 5% gold. But it is far more durable than mere gold electroplating. In appearance jewellery produced with 14ct gold fill is identical to jewellery produced with 14ct solid gold. And even in the most extreme circumstances, gold fill will not 'wear off' as is commonly the case with items which have been merely gold plated.
