Pitlochry Gallery Association

All styles representedRev. Frank Martin by Jim BowmanPitlochry Gallery Association for Arts & Crafts is a non-profit making organisation and commission from sales of work is donated to nominated charities. We do not have permanent premises but draw artists and craftspeople together once or twice a year to put on a mixed exhibition

Once a year the monies raised from sales of work is disbursed. Donations are made to one local charity, one national charity and one international charity. In 2007 the charities to benefit from the proceeds were Friends of Heartland Radio (Highland Perthshire Local Radio Station), Guide Dogs for the Blind and The Raven Trust for their work in Malawi. The 2008 funds are to be shared between The Blair Atholl & Pitlochry Junior Pipe Band, the MacMillan Cancer Care Centre in Perth and Alzheimer Scotland. (£700 each)

The principle behind Pitlochry Gallery (since 1968) is to foster and encourage creative artists within the community by providing a showcase for them. It was originally linked to the Pitlochry East Church under the guidance of Rev.Frank Martin (and his wife Ann) until his retirement in 1990. Sadly, Frank died in 2004 and Mrs Ann Martin continued to support the Association until her death on 3rd April 2008. The Martin Awards, one for art and one for craft, were inaugurated in 2007 and are presented annually. Many of our exhibitors are now outwith the immediate community but many have links to the area through family or friends.
